We’ll forgive you if you haven’t heard of Pirates prospect Stephen Alemais, a Class A Pirates shortstop drafted out of Tulane in the third round of the 2016 draft with only a couple weeks’ worth of games on his professional resume. But Alemais turned heads with an extraordinary effort for his West Virginia Black Bears in a game against the Auburn Doubledays:

Making a good throw to first base while falling toward center field seems so difficult that one might even call it ill-advised, but Stephen Alemais is out here trying to reach the big leagues and you airmail 100% of the throws you don’t make, or something.

Now 21 years old, Alemais was ranked the No. 61 college draft prospect by Baseball America before the season.
