USA Basketball is staying on a luxurious Silversea Silver Cloud cruise during their time in Rio. It sure beats the much-mocked Olympic Village, but not every player is a fan of the living arrangements.
According to Sports Illustrated‘s Chris Chavez, USA guard and Bulls star Jimmy Butler is afraid of water.
He’s so afraid of water — the very key to the existence of life itself — that he’s requested a special room that doesn’t face water.
Draymond Green said via SI.com:
“(Jimmy) don’t want to be near the water. He doesn’t want his room facing the water. Nothing. It’s incredible to me.”
DeAndre Jordan also spoke about Butler’s fear of water.
“Jimmy Butler doesn’t like water. So we were talking about, ‘Would you jump off the boat or would you get in?’ [He says,] ‘No and don’t play with me about it.’ He definitely does not like the water at all.”
I would like to know how we are just now finding out about Butler’s aquaphobia? That seems like a very important personal detail to keep to oneself for five years of an NBA career.
Let’s hope Butler manages to enjoy his time on the cruise because it looks awesome.
